More about this scene
This 13th-century church was much restored and remodelled in 1869-71. It has a squat tower, about 40ft high, which was rebuilt at a cost of about £7,000. The ceiling of the nave was painted with a thousand stars. A new clock was installed in the tower in 1884, paid for by public subscription.
