Royston, The Post Office & Midland Road c.1955

More about this scene
In the mid-1950s Royston still appears to be a place of cloth caps and head-scarves, and apart from a handful of little differences we could just as easily be looking at Royston in the mid-1930s. The man walking across the road appears oblivious to the oncoming cyclist, and our cameraman is no better: he stood in the middle of the road to get this shot.
