Runcorn, Runcorn Hill 1923

More about this scene
By the 1900s the best stone had been worked out from the area so in the 1920s it was laid out as parkland. Notice the flat area in the mid-right-hand side - this was intended as a platform on which concerts were to be held. Today, however, the valley is thickly wooded and it would be impossible to hold a concert here. Instead the hill is now an important nature reserve.
