More about this scene
At the top of Greenway Road, looking back towards the heart of old Runcorn is the war memorial. It was unveiled in November 1920 and listed 400 local men who died in the First World War - of the 2,000 men from Runcorn who served in that war, around one in every five died. It's good also to see that the names of those killed in the service of our country today are still being added to this memorial.
