More about this scene
The present Market Street, formerly the Butchery, is a reminder of Rye's early market. The Town Hall, part of which can be seen on the right, was built in 1742 on the site of the Market Hall. The Old Flushing Inn (the Flushing Tea Rooms, right) faced the Market Square; the building dates from the 15th century.
