More about this scene
This lath and plaster cottage with rust-coloured locally-made roof tiles is typical of the cottages which have been in this part of the town since the 15th century. It is tucked round the corner in Myddylton Place and can only be seen by those who explore the town on foot, for the apparent cul-de-sac leads through a twitchell (a local name for an alleyway) into the High Street.
