More about this scene
Originally one of four market crosses, the Poultry Cross, at the junction of Butcher Row and Minster Street, is the only one to survive. Since 1335 it has marked the area reserved for the selling of poultry and vegetables. The cross dates from the 15th century: the upper part was restored in 1853.
