More about this scene
The Iron Choir Screen which separated the entrance to the choir from the nave was removed in 1959 by order of the Dean and Chapter, presumably to give an uninterrupted view from the western entrance through to the great eastern window. It was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott and erected in the 19th century by Skidmore of Coventry, who specialised in ironwork.
