Sandsend, The Beach 1925

More about this scene
Sandsend is just three miles along the sandy beach from Whitby. It was a popular place for holidays, even though the village had been spoiled not only by the ruins of an alum works, but by an iron bridge that carried the railway line between Whitby and Saltburn. Two becks twist and turn through the village on their way to the sea, and many of the cottages cling precariously to the sides of the ravines.
