Happy Weekends

A Memory of Sawtry.

For some time back in the late '70's/early '80's I used to ride my motorbike from Worcester to visit my then girlfriend, Judith, at Sawtry. She had a post as a teacher at the nearby school. Used to love the ride on a sunny, summer Friday afternoon, along the A & B roads.
As a small village can be nosey, we rarely visited the local pubs, more often going into Huntingdon. What the parents of her pupils would have thought of her drinking in the Bell or Greystones (the village pubs) with a 'hairy biker' was a concern. Went a couple of times, but after a quizzing decided not to go again. Wonder what they would have made of her love for Heavy Metal?
We drifted apart, often wondered what had become of her. It was only recently I found out that she had married a couple of years later, but tragically died in a freak domestic accident not long after,
