This view looks towards Mar's Wark: dating from 1570, this uncompleted renaissance building was intended for use by the Earl of Mar who was Regent.
This example dates from 1894 and was 658 feet in length.
When this photograph was taken, the richly pargetted Ancient House, which dates back to medieval times, was occupied by Fred Pawsey, selling books and stationery.
