Shooters Hill Grammar School 1948 To 1955
A Memory of Shooters Hill.
So glad to review the two messages from former boys of Schooters Hill Grammar School in Woolwich, London.
I ( A.David Barnes ) was there a little earlier: 1948-1955 with clear memories of WW II and London Blitz....(1939-1945 of course).
THANK YOU for reminding me of the teachers' names. You omitted Mr.Flint with the purple hair strip.... he taught Pure Mathmatics....not very successfully. Tough subject.
I was one that was caned at 12 years, by the Head Master, Harry Hanks, for laughing at other boys thowing "bangers" (close to Guy Fawkes Day! ... 5 November ), lobbed aboard the local passing red double-decker buses ( but only one stroke from Harry). Nice bang!
Poor Brian Ellis, woken and slapped across the left cheek by Mr. Stringer because Brian fell asleep during the English Literature class ! (Brian had an early paper round! )
I include all those memories plus WW II through the eyes of a boy. I am giving my third book (on "an extra inexpensive tool to fight COVID") as an ebook to anyone interested in my autobiography scanning 8 decades, available best at: insanityofwars, com
I have a short 8 minute video for you too:

Enjoy!
