More about this scene
This delightful village, 2 miles south of Bedale, was once the support for the castle. Today visitors could easily miss Snape on their way to the popular arboretum with its unique collection of trees and shrubs from around the world at nearby Thorpe Perrow. The arboretum was created during the lifetime of Colonel Sir Leonard Ropner (1895-1977). His son Sir John carries on the tradition, and the stunning 85 acres of woodland attract an increasing number of visitors each year.
