Southport, Lord Street 1896

More about this scene
The distance between the building lines on Lord Street is 88 yards, which makes it much wider than either Union Street, Aberdeen, or the Headrow, Leeds. This is due not so much to planning, more to the history of the area. Early development needed to take into account an area of marshy ground, and in later years land for possible further development was divided into uniform rectangular plots by the landowners.
