Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

More about this scene

Southport's residential make-up was reflected along Lord Street, where quality shops abounded. By the beginning of the 20th century the national retail chains were opening branches along what was considered one of the finest streets for shopping in England. Note the large gilt signs on the left of the picture. These had been a popular form of advertising for many years, though Thompson & Capper's sign has been modified at some time so that it can be lit up with electric lights.

Bananas
My Aunt and Uncle used to take me to Peter Pans Pool when I stayed with them in the summer holiday. One day on the round a bout thing you pushed and then jumped on, a girl eating a banana ice lolly threw up and we all caught a bit !! Since then I cannot eat or smell anything banana flavoured with out reliving that day. A mere 60 years ago.

Vague Memories Of Staying Here
I have Vague memories of being sent here to convalesce when I was little I remember being very poorly all the time with asthma and i almost died once from this, i do remember crying as i did not want to go and hated watching my dad walk away leaving me there but can not remember much else or how long I stayed here but i do remember nuns which is strange i really wish i could remember more xx

Dad Gordon Clarke His Work /My Schools

my dad used to work in 50 BoB Taylors , which became john Colliers ,a taylor by trade , he often visited people to measure them up for a suit etc; he worked in chapel street for many many years . I attended Norwood road school , in the 50's , one of the teachers was Mrs Boddington moved to live in Ainsdale from Wavell avenue High park , then attended st Johns school and Birkdale secondary school my maiden name was Clarke ,any one with similar memories would love to hear from u

Weekend Sunbathing

I used to go to the bathing lake every weekend rain or shine , I used vinegar and olive oil to get a tan, I even lay on tin foil at one time , I used to arrive as the baths opened , alongside the life guards , I have a photo somewhere laying on the wall, by the café . met my first husband as well , who used to come from Manchester with his mates every weekend I have such fond of memories , always went on my own .my maiden name was Clarke

Genealogy & Research Images

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
