Stamford, George Hotel, Dining Room 1922

More about this scene
These two photographs give a fascinating insight into what is must have been like to stay in a well-appointed hotel eighty years ago, before the word en-suite had entered the hotelier's language — the wash jugs are clearly intended for more than show. The fireplace, while impressive, looks rather draughty — it is perhaps just as well that a thick eiderdown is provided.
