Crawley House Number 95 Pupil 1969 To 1974 .

A Memory of Stanhope.

My memory of Stanhope castle school was always the knuckles hitting the top of your head and punched in the gut for not doing as you were told to do it too slow in doing what the master's asked you to do . Punishment was daily if you had your elbows on the dinning table the masters would sneak up on you and pull both arms in the air and slam both your elbows down hard six times the pain was horrendous if you talked at the table after your meal you had the salt pot poured down your throat.all this was accepted as normal life in Stanhope.pain was the daily accepted thing do wrong you got battered by the master's .the worst ones were the so called table leader .once you finished the meal you were expected to sit up straight arms told and not to talk at all .if the table leader caught you he put his hand in the air and grassed on you to the masters . The table leader are just one of us doing time there but with a trusted position . Life was run in a military fashion the sold wood flooring was buffed by hand to the words left right left right left right until the bees wax is shinning spotless. Cold showers every morning to wake you up so the masters said bunny 🐇 hops up and down the long corridors till you thighs felt on fire 🔥 if you stopped you were knuckled on the head .even through these memorys of Stanhope castle school I was never sexually assaulted by the master's or any other person . I was taught how to read and write which I couldn't do when I arrived at the castle school taught good manners how to respect your elders and to always remember the word Manners Maketh man . A lot of crap as been said about the abuse by the master's but with out there help and support I would still be a illiterate. You had to stand up for yourself in Stanhope any problems with the lads you just sorted it out in the playground if you took a bearing so what but the trouble was sorted you had a go only way to stop being bullied was by not crying and stand your ground .as I said if you took a beating you were respected.I was in the castle school from 1969 to 1974 I was in Crawley house my number was 95 watched the moon 🌙 landing in 1969 learnt how to read and write I came out fit and healthy with all the physical exercise polishing floors by hand long walks and playing loads of football these are my memories of the castle school.if you got battered by the master's you must of deserved it just accept it shake yourself down but as for sexual abuse didn't happen . Five years I was there nothing happened .
