More about this scene

Stobhall passed to Sir John Drummond in 1360. The tower, which features a corbelled stair turret, dates from 1578; this was the time when what are now termed the Z3 castles were beginning to prove popular with Scottish lords. The most numerous of the Z-plan designs, the Z3 castles had two square jambs echeloned at opposing angles from the main tower. The square shape allowed for better utilization of space.
