Internationals Food Store?
A Memory of Streatham.
Great memories of Streatham.
I was born and brought up in Streatham and just wondered if anyone remembers a big food store back in the1970’s called “Internationals”?
I too remember Gadsbys the art/gift shop - so interesting to look at everything in there. I also remember Pratts Department store with their lovely old fashioned glass swivel soap dispensers in the toilets they had. They also had a gentleman that manned the lift! … how gentle everything was back then.
I also remember there was an Odeon and ABC cinema, Cats Whiskers that I think used to be The Stork … I think.
I used to attend St Leonard’s Primary School and then Streatham Wells in Streatham Hill. I remember a little sweet shop at the top/end? of Gleneagle Road that sold blocks of Walls ice cream sandwiched between two wafers - never ever tasted quite as good as then.
Streatham. I also remember Kennedys butchers,Che Guevara? Spelling and Panorama clothes shops.
