This view is south-westwards from the quarry gallery to Anvil Point (centre left) where Purbeck's coast becomes a vertical wall of stone. Above (centre) is the lamp of Anvil Point Lighthouse, completed in 1882, after a series of shipwrecks which culminated with 77 being drowned here on the 1,230-ton sailing ship 'Alexandrovna' on 29 April that year.
