More about this scene
These gardens in Groundwell Road were officially opened on 15 November 1950 by HRH Princess Elizabeth on her visit to the town. The creator of the Queens Park concept was Maurice Williams, in his role as General Superintendent of Parks in Swindon. During 1997 a rededication service took place, when new granite plaques were put alongside those of the official opening ceremony on the entrance gateway.
