More about this scene
Taunton was not always the peaceful town we know today. Industrial disputes and rural rebellions brought conflicts and riots to its streets. On one occasion the spinners and weavers of Taunton raided the town gaol to liberate compatriots who had been locked away after earlier disturbances.
