More about this scene

The mill occupies an island between the two rivers, Thet and Little Ouse. In 1669 the course of the Little Ouse was cut and extended to Thetford, enabling barges to ply for the first time between the country towns of the region and the port of King's Lynn. By that date, however, Lynn had already declined in status as a port, and Thetford never gained the prominence as a trading centre it expected.

Thetford
I moved to Thetford from York when I was 2, my father bought a house in St Marys Road. I used to wake up to the smell of freshly baked bread from Barretts bakery. The bells of St Marys Church would ring out every morning at 7. My two brothers and sister was born in that house. Hometown
I think I lived in this house. I was born here in Thetford in 1955. I am the son of Percy (Kelly) and Olga (nee Taylor) Welham. My wife and I are planning to visit Thetford this summer for our holidays. Stephen John Welham

Woodwork From This Redundant Church
Eating lunch today in Wetherspoon's in Brighton Marina, I noticed that a good deal of ecclesiastical woodwork had been incorporated into the structure. I was able to trace it back to this church via a dedicatory inscription on one peice which referred to Alfred Fowler Smith. Dr Smith was Rector of this church from 1863 till his death in 1891. Inspiration
We had a wonderful english teacher, Mr Troman, who installed in me a great love of the language and its literature. We nicknamed him HUDDY Because of his teaching. Forty years later I was inspired to write, and have printed a history of our family during the depression years. Stump.

However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
