Chance Finding Hotel Atlanta, Tintagel

A Memory of Tintagel.

I have discovered that this hotel, Hotel Atlanta, Tintagel, was owned by my 2nd cousin twice removed on my maternal side of the family circ. 1950's/1960's. Mr Cyril and Mrs Grace Ayles are my ancestors. I discovered they owned this place from their probate listing. I found a newspaper report that Grace died from a long illness, but what I cannot find is a newspaper report of how Cyril died. Considering they were a local business and apparently involved in local committees, I'm surprised there is no mention of his death. I also wonder where they are buried.

My grandfather spoke of someone in the family passing away and leaving a hotel, with no one to take it on. Word got round the family to see if anyone wanted to take the business on, but sadly, no one did.

If anyone has any further information on Cyril & Grace, it would be fantastic if you could contact me. If you have photos of them, it would be an even better surprise. They came from Romford in Essex, so I'm sure their accent would have stuck out in people's memories, especially being down in Cornwall.

Also, does anyone know if the hotel was later demolished or turned into another venue, as I cannot find a recent listing with the hotel name.
