A Selection of Memories from Ton Pentre

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Ton Pentre

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

It was a very nice post office modern in style a large post office with a sorting post office at the back i used to walk past the post office to school in the morning and back home in the afternoon. To Ton boys junior school. the building on the far right was the Windsor Hotel so called Hotel which it was not the bus used to turn up next to the Windsor to Treorchy it was the Treorchy to Cardiff and back bus
I lived not very far from Gelli Park and used to play on the swings and roundabout and watch the men and women play bowls on the bowling lawns many years ago... sometimes with my father in the late early 1950's into the 60's, before we moved away to live. I was born in 1943. Brings back memories.
That's me on the bike, my wife said it was 1963 but in fact it was 1962, early summer. At that time I was using my step-father's surname of Price. The policeman standing outside the post office was Sgt Brown.
This photo was taken in 1963, my husband was the boy on the bike. He said that it was taken on a Saturday afternoon. The chapel on the right of this view has now been demolished.
