Torcross, General View 1907

More about this scene
Another view of Slapton Sands, this time looking north. The sea wall is a little more substantial today, otherwise the view is unchanged. On the road behind the houses there is a mouldering old Sherman tank. It was lost during the 1944 rehearsals, and only recovered in 1988. It stands as a memorial to those US servicemen who lost their lives during the pre D-Day manoeuvres.
