Crabs Galore

A Memory of Trefor.

We spent 14 years going to Trefor, and every holiday had wonderful memories. My dad was very good friends with the owner of the house that was on the beach at Trefor. He fished from the pier there and he would go out on the boats fishing for mackeral. One day after fishing the lady who owned the house, called May, invited us all in to her house for lunch, and when we walked through the door, there were hundreds of crabs crawling around the house. The settee, the chairs, the cupboards, the toilet. We were shocked n i was terrified to move. Guess what she offered us for lunch....... Crab. I didn't eat lunch that day, but we look back at that holiday and always have a giggle.

Hi Jan, we too spent our childhood visiting Trefor; my family were Annie and Daniel Jones who lived on Eifl Rd. I have memories of walking down to the beach, over to West End and up toward the quarry though I've only ever seen it in photos fully. The stream could always be heard through the night as could the sheep and no artificial light would come into the bedroom which was strange. I remember a neighbour, Miss Hopkins the retired schoolteacher and the chapel we were taken to a handful of times. I last went at twenty and am now 40 something and am feeling very Welsh and nostalgic for those times. Heather
