I can remember next to one of the swings shown close to the lake in this picture, was a flight of steps which was fenced off and at the bottom was a door. Does anyone know what this was - was it just a storeroom - or as I was once told - a passage way leading underground to the still remaining entrance of the demolished hall via the bank on the left of the Italian gardens?
