More about this scene
The Market Tavern, far left, now forms the entrance to the White Hart Yard. The pub doors were rescued after demolition, and are preserved in the town's museum. On the right, at No 29, Manoah Tucker, the boot and shoe maker, competes with his neighbour, the Public Benefit Boot Company, for the most impressive light fittings. At No 32 is Saxty's, tailor and hatter.
