Lived in R BLOCK. Real gruelling Poverty around but everyone helped each other get by. Escorted a young girl called GALE (who lived also in the dwellings area) to local West Walker school when I was about 6 years old.

The local Corporation Pub, (Walker Road?) near Church Street was very popular. Remember a giant of a Policeman (Friendly) with a metal marble type ball bearing on the top of his helmet, standing near a Police Box corner of Church Street/Walker Road.
