Au Pair Girl

A Memory of Warlingham.

I have been a au pair girl in Warlingham 40 years ago. I never forget my time in the family. Good memories and a beautiful family. francoise

I have a photo of my mother in nurses uniform sitting on the lawn of Warlingham Hospital. this must have been during WW2
Was there a time when the hospital was for soldiers perhaps? and not only for mental illnesses? She was Dulcie Gilbert.
I also have the photo which i could scan in?
There was a period of time, both during and after WW2, where all active military and ex-military personnel, suffering from serious "shell shock", spent their time there. I know this since my friends mum, Mrs. Evans, was a nurse there from 1938 to 1968.
