More about this scene

Along Borwick Lane, past the wooden-shuttered windows of a Methodist chapel, is the small village of Warton. Behind rises a jagged escarpment, Warton Crag, a natural stronghold that has attracted man since the earliest times. Its caves have revealed objects from the late Stone Age to the Roman period and on its summit is a fort built by the Brigantes.
