More about this scene
Following the death of Ambrose Dudley in 1589, Warwick Castle was once again in the hands of the Crown. James I awarded it to Sir Fulke Greville, who was also given the title of Baron Brooke of Beauchamp Court. However, for over 150 years the castle and the earldom were separate, the title having been awarded to Robert, Lord Rich. When the last of the males of the Rich family died in 1759 the title quickly came to the Grevilles.
