This road junction is just to the south of the centre of Wellington, and sits astride the London to Holyhead road that was built by Thomas Telford in the early 1800s. Telford was the County Surveyor for Shropshire at the time, and was associated with the building of roads and also of bridges, canals and aqueducts, to name just a few of his projects.
