More about this scene

A workman (centre) scythes the grass on the village green at Wensley. Wensley was the major settlement in the dale of the River Ure which takes its name until 1563, when the plague struck and the village was deserted. Leyburn then took over from Wensley as the capital of the dale, and Wensley never regained its former importance.

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?
