The alabaster effigies of the armour-clad John Beaufort, 1st Duke of Somerset, and his wife Margaret lie recumbent on their elaborate 15th-century tomb in the presbytery. It was erected by their famous daughter, Lady Margaret Beaufort (1443-1509), who became the Countess of Richmond and Derby and was the mother of King Henry VII. John Beaufort was a grandson of John of Gaunt.
