Bracebridge
A Memory of Worksop.
I was born at number 2 Bracebridge in 1941. From childhood memories I think it was a canal side cottage. My mother was evacuated there from Coventry to avoid the bombing for a short stay. I think I must have arrived early as I don't think it was the intention of my mother to give birth then.
The cottage was occupied by my Grandmother's sister and her husband the Dawsons. Their only son, George Fred Dawson, was killed in 1942 when his Destroyer HMS Somali was torpedoed. From stories my Dad told me about his cousin Fred as he was known worked at the Co-op in Worksop and played football for them.
I would love a picture of the cottages and any relevant information or memories of that family that may still be remembered.
