Worthing, The Bandstand And Parade 1899

More about this scene
No seaside resort was complete without its Victorian bandstand. Worthing's was a good example, with screens to protect the band from the sea breezes and an elegant wrought iron openwork cupola to its ogee roof. It went in the 1920s, to be replaced by the present Lido, a ring of amusement arcades around an open-air stage. Beyond the men's bathing machines is the pier, in fact the second pier which had replaced the 1862 one in 1889.
