More about this scene
St Martin's is just off the Dover Road from Canterbury, and has a 13th-century flint tower surrounded by trees. There is an ancient yew at the church gate which must have been growing when Sir Francis Drake was sailing around the world. Under a stone in the chancel is the body of John Saintpyere, who was rector here before the Armada came.
