More about this scene
Over time, much of the stone from this once very wealthy abbey was used on other buildings. The remaining ruins stand in Museum Gardens. It is said that the ghost of Anne Boleyn, who once stayed here, has been seen, and that the terrible cries of the dying that were placed in the courtyard after an attack by the Roundheads in 1644 can still be heard.
