More about this scene
These days Aberdeen is famous for its association with North Sea oil, but shipbuilding, fishing, papermaking and the quarrying of granite have all played their part in the city's development. Here we see electric tramcars competing with a horse and cart in this crowded street. The chief thoroughfare of Aberdeen, Union Street, at this time was three-quarters of a mile long, 70 feet wide and built entirely of granite.
