The sad looking building on the left was the Plough public house. In 1928 it was said to have a saloon, a lounge and a dining room, and it sold Bass, Youngers, Hammerton Stout and Fremlin Pale Ale. A 10oz steak or chop with vegetables cost 2s 6d (25p), and the landlord was an agent for Vivian's garages and pavilions!
