Coronavirus: We would like to thank our customers for continued support in these difficult times. We are a web based company operating in a rural area, so our staff travel to work by car individually and both in our office & factory we have enough room to maintain social distancing. As such and in consultation with our staff, we have decided to remain open for business unless or until government policy changes. We are still able to despatch most of our products, however, the ones listed below (that are made by other manufacturers) will not be available for a while.

Products temporarily unavailable: Folded Maps, Tableware (Coasters & Placemats), Jigsaws, Wallpaper.

Dispatch times may vary from those quoted. We will update this message as anything changes.

Trying To Find Ancestors - a Memory of Alton.

I am trying to find my Grandparents who lived in or around Alton. They were John Power and Martha Power (formerly Martha Brown). My father John Robert Power was born in Alton 18th November 1926 at 7, Tower Street Alton. He unfortunately passed away in 2007, he tried on several occasions to find his parents (John and Martha) without success. He was fostered to a family headed by Edwin George Bann Senior who lived at Snode Cottages, Snode Hill, Medstead. John and Martha were allegedly "in service" and so could have been employed by a prominent person as my Grandfather's proffesion was stated on my fathers birth certificate as a Butler.
Edwin George Bann Junior worked as a gardener for Lady Elsie Bradford at Medstead Manor.

The Bann family moved to Carshalton Surrey probably around 1930, taking my father John Robert Power with them. If anyone knows any details of his parents John and Martha it would be most appreciated if you could contact me. My details are as follows.

Tips & Ideas

Not sure what to write? It's easy - just think of an important place in your life and ask yourself:

  • How does it feature in your personal history?
  • What are your best memories of this place?
  • How has it changed over the years?
  • How does it feel, seeing these places again?
  • Do you remember stories about the community, its history and people?
