Amersham College, Woodside Road.

A Memory of Amersham.

My name is Philip Hitchcock. I attended Amersham College 1956 to 1958. It was owned by Mr Holland (Boss). Another teacher was Mr Fuchs (Fred) an Austrian. Fred taught German, Maths, Science, and took charge of us at cricket. However I am not sure he knew the rules of the game! Boss attempted to teach the rest of the subjects. My preference was for Fred as he got me interested in Science, and I went on to get degrees in Chemistry and work in science and engineering based industries.
I remember the school had quite a large piece of land where we ran about and played games at break times, often getting muddy. Especially heading an old leather football, which got very heavy when wet. I think this play area has all been developed as housing now.
I would be interested in hearing from anyone who remembers me.
