Women Shopping - a Memory of Aveley.

I have been wondering who the two women are in the photo. I wonder if anybody has got any idea or knows who they are?

The two women shoppers in the photographs are Mrs.Dorothy Baker and her daughter Mrs Dorothy Harknett. Mrs Baker's house backed onto the church graveyard and her daughter lived at No 5 Hall Road next door to our family, The Hunwicks at No 7. The Harknetts, George and Dorothy worked at Jurgens, Purfleet as did their son Alan who played football for Aveley.

Tips & Ideas

Not sure what to write? It's easy - just think of an important place in your life and ask yourself:

  • How does it feature in your personal history?
  • What are your best memories of this place?
  • How has it changed over the years?
  • How does it feel, seeing these places again?
  • Do you remember stories about the community, its history and people?
