More about this scene
The Park was formally opened on 1 July 1937. It is remarkably little changed, apart from the line of tall Lombardy poplars which went in the 1990s and the removal of the hedges. Even the flower beds are still planted and maintained. Beyod the trees on the right are football pitches and the former open-air swimming pool. The drinking fountain, the gift of Councillor Thomas Sheriff to the town in 1914, was moved here from Kingsbury (see photograph number 70556).
