More about this scene
This view looks back towards the site of photograph No 77098. The Rose & Crown and the Whitehorse Hotel on the right were among the numerous inns which made this small town one of Hertfordshire's premier coaching centres, thanks to its position on the Great North Road and on the important link between Luton and Royston. The adjacent tobacconist's premises bears numerous advertisements for assorted products, while on the opposite side of the street, the hardware store displays some of its stock, including a roll of wire netting.
