On each side of the bandstand are stone canopies protecting marble vases. The inscription tells us they were the gift of the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte in 1805 to his Empress, Josephine. Brought back as spoils of war, they were later given to the park in 1874, and the columned baldocchinos were erected by a Captain Huth in 1914.
