Beachley, The Ferry And Hotel c.1955

Made in Britain logo

More about this scene

It is interesting to see the ferry much farther down the pier, indicating the high tidal rise and fall of the river. The hotel to the right in the background is no longer there, but its neighbour to the left, the Old Ferry Inn, is still functioning.

If you wish to know the history of Pier House [behind ferry office] and lighthouse keepers, and lighthouse of Beachley see www.gloucesterharbou trustees.org, very interesting, history of Batchford family, my mother's ...see more
