More about this scene
This view looks across the river to the south bank, now a much changed view. The Picturedome at this time was showing 'Madame Peacock' daily at 3, 7 and 9 o'clock. To its left and out of view are the late 1880s gables of the Bedford Rowing Club. This view is now marred, to put it mildly, by the concrete eyesore of the Moat House Hotel, 14 storeys of 1960s aggression: but there are good views from the rooms, no doubt.
